Playboy Goes Local Via Blackbook

Huffington Post started it, with a local site in Chicago, with promises of many more. Now Playboy is jumping into the local game as well.

The news was buried in this week’s news that Christie Hefner was resigning as CEO. But during a presentation at UBS Media Week, EVP Bob Myers said that Playboy is launching a new website on inauguration day (Jan. 20) that will feature a city guide for local playboys.

According to coverage by Paid Content, Meyers said that local content will be provided by New York-based Blackbook, an entertainment-oriented city guide that covers 15 U.S. cities and 10 international cities. (note: This is blackbookmag.com. There are several blackbooks found on Google).

The site describes Blackbook as “the insider’s guide to where style and substance intersect in popular culture today. Blackbook provides sophisticated, relevant and visually stunning takes on restaurants, nightlife, travel, fashion, Hollywood, entertainment and the arts.”

U.S. cities for the site include Atlanta, Austin, Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, The Hamptons, Honolulu, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, San Francisco and Seattle. International cities include Cote d’Azur, Dubai, London, Milan, Montreal, Mykenos, Toronto, Shanghai and Vancouver.
