Home Advisor’s Crystal Ball: 25% of Requests ‘On Demand’

Where do home services fit in vis a vis on demand? While expectations are modest for the segment — home services are often complex, “considered” purchases — emergency home repair services (locksmiths, plumbers, flooding) and certain types of basic commodity services seem to be fairly good candidates.

Home Advisor dived in to the market last year with its Instant Booking marketplace. The feature is now getting about 10 percent of the company’s 11 million annual requests.

That’s below the company’s initial forecast — 16 percent was anticipated. But Home Advisor says it is pleased with the results and will be introducing new features within the marketplace. It expects to eventually see 25 percent of its requests come from on demand.
