ReachLocal Grossed $147 Million in 2008; Projects ’09 Growth

One of the big qs in local has been how well ReachLocal is doing. The SMB online advertising consultant was reportedly valued at $305 million after an October 2007 investment round. While ReachLocal says that number is “inaccurate,” the company’s ultimate success – still undetermined — would have important implications on the future of small …continue reading »

The Sales Debate at WMS ’09: Interactive Specialists, or Sell-It-All?

As more and more digital products and partnerships are introduced, a real debate is emerging whether they can be sold by a traditional media sales type who may be more focused on core product, have limited time to make his or her case (and apparently, a “C student” as well). The small business advertising arms race has gotten hotter in recent weeks, as companies eye a chance to add Google and Yahoo search solutions, and other services to small business marketing budgets once totally contained by Yellow Pages. OK, Here’s The Lineup for SEATTLE, April 30-May 2

It’s been a lot of fun putting this together – a “who’s who” lineup for Kelsey’s Drilling Down on Local: Marketplaces, which takes places April 30-May 2 in Seattle (my favorite city). This show, entirely inspired by Kelsey’s Marketplaces research program, which I run, takes a fresh stab at everything, with a major focus on …continue reading »
